Goldrush Street Faire & Annual Grape Stomp – SATURDAY!

18th Annual Calaveras Grape Stomp

As most are aware, Murphys was once a gold mining town during the California Gold Rush. This not-so-little-known-fact is celebrated annually in downtown Murphys and this Saturday’s the day!

On October 1st, Main Street fills with over 100 booths of all kinds — arts and crafts, antiques, handcrafted goods, jewelry, clothing, collectibles, and delectable food — for the annual Goldrush Street Faire, hosted by the Feeney Park Foundation.

As if that wasn’t enough, every year on the first Saturday in October (which just happens to be October 1st) locals gather to watch and take part in the Annual Grape Stomp in Murphys Community Park to celebrate the harvest and Calaveras County’s famed wine industry. Folks can participate in the Grape Stomp competition to win some pretty fantastic prizes as teams of two battle it out to stomp the most juice from the grapes in just three minutes. There will also be two auctions — one silent, one called — with some incredible offerings (wine tours, gourmet dinners, ski trips… and those are just a few examples)!
