15th Annual Ironstone Concours d’Elegance

15th Annual Ironstone Concours d'Elegance

Concours d’elegance literally translates to “competition of elegance” and has, since the 17th century, referred to the gathering of prestigious cars. The tradition began as a parade of horse-drawn carriages in the parks of Paris and lives on in the gorgeous Sierra Foothills thanks to the incredibly philanthropic owners of Ironstone Vineyards.

In 1993, Gail and John Kautz decided to stage an automotive concours d’elegance at their winery. Being farmers and vintners themselves, they felt the proceeds from the concours benefit the area’s agriculturally-minded youth, notably 4-H Clubs, Future Farmers of America and the California State Fair Scholarship Fund. Now in its fifteenth year, the concours offers not only a jaw-dropping car show, but also includes demonstrations and projects from Northern California 4-H and FFA groups. Lunch, snacks, soft drinks and wine tasting are available on the Ironstone premises. Lunch tickets are available in advance or at the concours entry gate.

Ironstone Concours Foundation has pledged a generous donation to the building fund for the California State FFA headquarters in Galt California, along with regional FFA high-school education programs. The concours continues to fund scholarships in partnership with the California State Fair Scholarship Fund and the Calaveras County Fair Scholarship program.
