Frog’s Tooth Vineyard
“If wine can have legs frogs can have teeth…” That’s what the owners of the down-home Murphys winery state with wry humor and a lovely sincerity. While the winery is young (its first crush was in 2005) its presence in the community of Murphys is already solid as a rock, and their are wines consistently well-crafted gems — from Torrontes, Pinot Grigio and Fume Blanc to sumptuous reds like Tempranillo, Grenache Barbera.
Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program
The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program offers young people in 1st through 12th grades the opportunity to build a relationship and learn from adults outside of their families and peer groups. In an age dominated by electronic media, mentors offer positive adult role models and provide support, advice and guidance to young people.

Chatom Vineyards

California Winegrape Association’s 16th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend
Murphys is part of a wonderful collection of towns and communities that make up Calaveras County — a county rich with stunning natural beauty, a vibrant arts community, a wonderful culinary scene and a brilliant assortment of vineyards. …Now take all of that and wrap it in a Presidents’ Day celebration. The result: a fete for the senses as some of the area’s finest wineries and musicians come together to serve up scrumptious food and wine pairings, live music, a good handful of remarkable deals, and a joyful gathering of friends and neighbors and visitors.
Black Chasm Cavern
With three different tours and a 3,000 square foot visitors center, Black Chasm Cavern is well-known for its wide variety of formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and a vast arrays of rare helictite crystals as well as for its connection to the Matrix film trilogy.

Parrots Ferry Bridge
The Parrots Ferry Bridge spans the northern end of New Melones Lake on the Stanislaus River and is one of the tallest of its kind in the country. Plunked down between Vallecito and Columbia, it’s certainly a beautiful site and makes for a fantastic turn-around point for you cyclists.
Sutter Gold Mine
Sutter Gold Mine is a modern hard rock mine originally developed for gold extraction in the late 1980s, the mine is now open exclusively for one hour underground tours deep into the heart of the Motherlode offering a comprehensive look into the gold mining process and its historical progression.

Wines of the World at Murphys Historic Hotel: “Sweets For Your Sweet”
Brought to Murphys Historic Hotel by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance, the monthly, interactive wine seminar offers a chance to experience and explore the world of wine — from wine tasting to grape growing, from varietal nuances to winemaking techniques. This month, Gary Zucca of Zucca Winery will be pairing Ports with tasty cheese and scrumptious sweets while leading an in-depth discussion on wine’s dessert side.
Saddle Creek Golf Resort
This 18-Hole championship course offers a scenic and challenging course. Stretching just over 6,800 yards from the black tees, the championship tees have a slope rating of 137. The mens’ tees measure 6,044 yards with a gentle slope rating of 122 and the ladies’ tees measure 4,486 yards with a slope rating of 117.
